Disabilities can create barriers for people when trying get more involved in their local community. At Access Rehab, we provide solutions for independence, in supplying daily mobility but also allowing our clients to have access to a range of social and fun activities.

With our showroom in Sale, we have put together a list of sporting activities available in further Gippsland and across Victoria that you can get involved in. Getting involved in sports can be great for self-esteem and physical strength, and we hope you are interested by a few of the options below:

In the aftermath of the Paralympic Games in Rio, wheelchair basketball has been showcased on the world stage. There is an upcoming opportunity, for people in wheelchairs who have played before or would like to learn, to join a basketball competition run by Basketball Victoria. The Gippsland Regional Wheelchair Basketball Tournament is running on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th November.

There are also opportunities available for wheelchair tennis, as run by Tennis Australia.  For players with disability, including being in a wheelchair, deaf, blind and impacted by an intellectual disability, there are a range of tournaments available across Victoria.

Although the travel and time investment can seem large, the reward in getting active and joining in in social activities can be huge! Confidence, social skills and fitness, are just a few of the returns on investment that you can receive. Don’t let your wheelchair stop you!
