Summertime's here, and we have a few ideas to where you can spend it and have a remarkable, relaxing and FUN summer adventure.

Summer Activities

  • Some playgrounds cater to wheelchair support and has play opportunities for children with physical, sensory, cognitive and intellectual limitations.

  • Most zoos are designed with accessibility for wheelchairs and strollers and have disabled-friendly toilets. Zoos are enjoyable for all ages.

  • The feeling of the fresh salty sea air filling your lungs and the sand touching your skin is lovely and relaxing. Look for wheelchair accessible beaches in your area.

  • Exploring another part of your city can be a great way to break the sameness and learn more about your city. A better way to do this is to try a restaurant or cafe in an area you may not have been to before. You may discover a hidden gem!

  • Local markets can be a great way to enjoy the community, with stalls offering different goods, local crafts and a broad assortment of food choices. It can be a pleasant day out for the whole family.

  • Australia is home to some great museums and art galleries. Some museums and galleries hold free exhibits for months. Most of them are inclusive spaces and have been designed to support access for everyone.

  • Seeing a movie on a warm summer’s night beneath the stars can be a memorable experience. So BYO chair, picnic carpet and snacks!

  • If you think of something out of the ordinary, try visiting a maze. The Enchanted Aventure Park with the Original Hedge Maze is located about 2 hours out of Sale. The majority of the pathways throughout the park are asphalt or boardwalks. With assistance, wheelchair users can experience the property.

  • The summer sun isn’t for everyone; try ice skating if escaping the heat is more your style! Most ice rinks hold special sessions for ice-play and skating; it allows for wheelchair and other disability access.

We are a contracted supplier to the TAC, WorkSafe and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
